UVI's Debut of the Inclusive Childcare Lab & Diagnostic Center on St. Thomas, VI

St. Thomas, VI- Senator Donna Frett-Gregory applauds the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) on the establishment of its new childcare center. "By opening this first UVI childcare facility, the university has embarked on a journey that will positively impact the lives of students and families in the Virgin Islands," the senator said.

Sen. Frett-Gregory commends UVI President David Hall, Dr. Karen Brown, UVI administrators and members of the UVI Board of Trustees on this momentous achievement.

As Chair of the Education and Workforce Development Committee, Sen. Frett-Gregory is deeply committed to the educational enrichment and well-being of the territory's children. Providing Virgin Islanders with early childhood education centers like UVI's new facility falls right in line with legislation the senator has proposed, one of which seeks to have public K4 through 3rd grade teachers in the territory become well trained in early childhood education. "In this way, we ensure the quality of early childhood academic instruction in our islands," Sen. Frett-Gregory said.

The senator contends that the establishment of the UVI childcare center, which made its debut on the UVI St. Thomas campus and will soon be established on St. Croix, demonstrates genuine concern for the plight of students who are also parents.

"The UVI childcare center eliminates the challenge that many students face who have the daunting responsibility of securing childcare while simultaneously pursuing higher education," Sen. Frett Gregory said. "Thank you, Dr. Hall and UVI, for following through on a vision that will have an enduring impact on the future of the territory."
